On November 3, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, the Nepalese Community of London, Ontario, hosted a vibrant Deusi Bhailo celebration. The evening was filled with joy as community members gathered to visit the homes of three invitees, bringing the cherished tradition of Deusi Bhailo to life. This event showcased the rich heritage of Nepalese music, dance, and song, as performers dressed in traditional attire went from house to house, filling each home with warmth, culture, and festivity.
Throughout the evening, performers sang traditional Deusi Bhailo songs and engaged in lively dances, creating a joyful atmosphere that resonated with both hosts and guests. The dedication of the performers, combined with the hospitality of the host families, made each visit a memorable experience. The event successfully raised over $1,000, thanks to the generosity of the community. These contributions will help fund future cultural events, supporting the Nepalese community’s efforts to preserve and celebrate its heritage within London.
Although we received invitations from many other households, our time constraints limited us to visiting only three homes. We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming interest and support, which demonstrates the community’s dedication to preserving Nepalese traditions. The success of this year’s program is a testament to the commitment of our volunteers, the enthusiasm of the participants, and the warmth extended by the families who welcomed us.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in and hosted this year’s Deusi Bhailo program. Together, we created a memorable and culturally enriching experience that will strengthen our bonds and inspire future generations to carry on this treasured tradition.
